Transformer Load Analysis

From your peak and average active power, see transformer loading, remaining capacity, losses and the load at which efficiency is highest, as a preliminary check.

The values you enter are processed only in your browser; they are not sent to a server or stored.

Enter the shared values once and the tools can fill them in for you.Create facility profile
kVA

Rated apparent power from the nameplate.

cos φ

Preferably the power factor at peak; an average value can understate peak kVA.

kW

Highest active power, from the bill or measurements.

kW

Average active power over the energised hours (kWh ÷ hours). Needed for the annual loss range.

W

From the nameplate or test report, in watts.

W

Load loss at rated load, in watts (at reference temperature). Without both loss values, no loss calculation is made.

h

8760 if the transformer is energised all year.

TL/kWh

To see the loss in TL.

Thresholds are a preliminary rule: below 30% is light loading, above 80% is high loading. A real loading and ageing assessment uses ambient temperature and the load profile with the IEC 60076-7 (mineral-oil-immersed) or IEC 60076-12 (dry-type) loading guide; this tool does not replace it.

Enter the transformer rating, peak active power and power factor to see the result.

Assessment for transformer loading and capacity

Let us review your measurement data and load growth together with fault levels and protection settings, and establish the basis for the transformer capacity decision.
