Solar + Storage Feasibility and Acceptance / Performance Verification
We assess adding storage to an existing or planned solar plant through sizing, peak analysis and the assumptions of the regulation in force, and we document the acceptance and performance verification criteria for after commissioning.
Which questions does this study answer?
A storage decision is made not on a single capacity figure but on the facility's data together with the regulatory assumptions.
Does storage make sense for this facility?
Solar surplus, peak load and tariff structure are modelled together; whether storage is technically and financially meaningful is reported as a preliminary payback range.
What should the power and capacity be?
For peak shaving, power (MW) follows from peak behaviour and capacity (MWh) from the duration of the peak; for solar-surplus storage, capacity follows from the volume of surplus energy. Both are assessed together on the same 15-minute data.
What are the regulatory assumptions?
Assumptions on adding storage to an unlicensed plant and on the obligations that follow from it are set out in a separate section, citing the text in force.
How is it verified after commissioning?
A measurement plan and acceptance criteria are defined in advance for acceptance and performance verification; test results are evaluated against those criteria.
Working steps
The steps are sequential: the output of each is the input of the next.
01
Data collection and validation
15-minute generation and consumption series, tariff components and connection details are collected; missing and inconsistent records are flagged.
02
Sizing scenarios
Power, capacity and operating-strategy variations are compared side by side on the same model.
03
Peak and solar surplus analysis
Peak shaving and the use of solar surplus with storage are reported together with a sensitivity analysis.
04
Statement of regulatory assumptions
The regulatory assumptions the study rests on are set out together with the text cited.
05
Acceptance and performance verification
A measurement plan and acceptance criteria are prepared; test results after commissioning are evaluated against those criteria.

Scope and limits
- Results depend on the regulatory text in force on the date of the study and on the input data; if the regulation changes, the study must be updated.
- The study is a feasibility and verification assessment, not an investment decision or a guarantee of savings or payback.
- Carrying out field tests and commissioning is within the manufacturer's/contractor's scope; Afectus prepares the test criteria and evaluates the results against them.
- Official applications, permits and grid-connection procedures are outside this scope.
- Acceptance/performance verification is not an accredited testing or inspection body service; it is limited to preparing the criteria and evaluating test results against them.
Regulatory note
The regulatory framework for unlicensed generation with storage may be changing. This page does not state a specific article, date or numerical threshold; the official text in force is the basis during the study and is cited in it.
