Reactive Power and Compensation

From the monthly meter values on your bill, see your reactive ratio, whether you exceed the limit, and the approximate capacitor power needed for a target power factor, as a pre-check.

The data you enter is processed only in your browser; it is not sent to a server or stored.

Enter the shared values once and the tools can fill them in for you.Create facility profile
kWh

Active consumption on the bill or meter.

kVArh

Inductive reactive energy.

kVArh

Capacitive reactive energy if any; otherwise leave empty.

TL/kVArh

The reactive unit price on the bill; needed for the charge estimate.

h

Average active power = monthly kWh ÷ operating hours. 730 for a full month; for shift-based production enter the real operating hours.

cos φ 0.98 corresponds roughly to the 20% inductive ratio limit.

The limits are based on inductive reactive energy above 20% and capacitive reactive energy above 15% of the active energy drawn, for subscribers with a contract power of 50 kVA or more. Below 50 kVA the limits differ and this tool does not apply; check your own contract and the regulation in force.

Enter the monthly active and inductive (or capacitive) reactive energy to see the result.
